"Silicon Valley" will not premiere until April , but HBO took the wraps off the first two episodes of the series during a screening session on the eve of the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena.
Unfortunately , the projection came with some conditions : The episodes are not completely " locked " , however, means that some changes could be made yet , so urged critics to refrain from HBO review and giving points frame.
What we can say is that it took several episodes , hearty laughs big , which is something we've come to expect from the man who gave us "Office Space ," " Beavis and Butthead " and "King of the Hill " . But beyond the laughs , the judge and his colleagues also showed a keen sense of place and a great eye for cultural detail . Looks like they did their homework.
And that's no small achievement . Hollywood is in love with the technology community of the Bay Area for several years , but for the most part , people in technology have not been impressed with what he has done on screen. "Silicon Valley " might be the first show that not only gains a wider audience laughs , but some solid insider cred , too.
The show is linked to the idea that " in the gold rush of high-tech Silicon modern Valley, the most qualified to succeed are the least able to handle success . " In the middle of all this is a computer programmer introvert named Richard , wonderfully played by Thomas Middleditch . Lives with other misfits in a business incubator by a vaguely self- satisfied, dotcom millionaire pot- smoking (TJ Miller) .
Again, is not supposed to give away major plot details , but essentially Richard does not want to be a " lifer " to his great fictional technology company and he just might have created an incredible search algorithm that could save him . But it's so awkward and trembling coward who can not have what it takes to capitalize on its success. Middleditch absolutely nails the role , and you can not help but root for him.
With his band of brothers technology, "Silicon Valley" comes with the nerdy types - guy everything we 've seen before . ( There are the usual jokes about how magnets are not exactly chicken . ) But with some sharp writing and nuanced performance , these characters who manage to feel fresh and different.
We will learn more about the ingredients of the series Thursday afternoon , when the judge and the cast appear in the press tour during a panel session on HBO.
The first season of "Silicon Valley" will consist of eight episodes .
